Travel to the British Virgin Islands

Traveling to the BVl's is quite easy, as there are many domestic and international flights to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico, the principal jumping-off place for most Caribbean locations. From there it’s a short 30-minute flight to Tortola, the main island of the BVI’s.

San Juan has a large and very modern airport facility that handles thousands of visitors each day from around the world.

Another alternative is to fly to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgins, and from there catch a flight or a ferry to Tortola.

American Eagle (a subsidiary of American Airlines) operates about 10 flights a day from San Juan to Tortola. The airport designation is EIS. Other airlines include Cape Air and Caribbean Sun.

Entering the BV's for U.S. and Canadian citizens requires a valid passport. If your citizenship is other than U.S. or Canadian, check with a BVI tourist office, travel agent or British Embassy to determine what is required for entry. A tourist entry is for up to one month.

Once you have your boat reserved, I will provide you with detailed travel information and some advice on what to pack.
